Though there were some exceptions for the gray and black lovers which made up the majority of the guests at Image Stylist Kathryn Mademann’s latest seminar, color was the name of the game in her opinion.

“If you are over forty you should be wearing color around your face to lighten it up,” Mademann explained, “we are being sold too much gray and black that simply does not produce a WOW look for anyone. ”

The former model turned sytlist proceeded to prove her point by covering up her white peplum jacket with a gray top, giving a more sallow complexion than her chosen white produced.

Mademann was not much of a fan of prints either. She showed off three floral prints all using the same tones of pink, purple, navy and white. Only one got a mild approval from the fashion guru while the others were sentenced to the waste basket.

“I am a fan of the classic,” she explained to more than twenty women at Tadja Hall at McDonald campus in Sainte Anne De Bellevue last week.

Mademann will come to your house and for a nominal fee, explore the dos and don’ts of your closet. In only a couple of hours, customers are guided on what looks right for their body type and what colors will suit their skin tone.  A perfect holiday gift.

Mademann has had a dynamic career spanning over 25 years in fashion and media and communications. She has worked as a fashion model, founded and owned a publishing company for 13 years, where she launched two magazines, authored three children’s books, and was the TV host of “On Trend,” a fashion makeover television show.

After moving to the West Island from the United States in 2013, Mademann has chosen to branch out into helping those of us with less knowledge of fashion. Her newest company is called KM2Style, which blends her vast and unique experience in the fashion and entrepreneurial world.
